Project Description
FAST provided mobile HIV testing and counseling services targeting adolescent girls and boys across Traditional Authority Ndamera in Nsanje district. In conjunction with Nsanje district hospital, the project managed to test 3835 adolescents for HIV within twelve months.
FAST collaborated with the ministry of health in the implementation of this project such that the government provided latex gloves, testing kits and HDS providers who managed to reach each and every corner of Traditional Authority Ndamera and managed to test almost every adolescent. 80 (51 girls and 29 boys) tested HIV positive, they were immediately to the nearest health facility to start treatment.
One support group of Adolescent Living with HIV was formed, it has a membership of 30 (18 girls and 12 boys). They were trained on Positive Living and treatment literacy.
- To provide HIV Testing to 3500 adolescents between the ages of 15 and 24 by the end of March, 2019.
- To reduce stigma and discrimination against adolescents who are living with HIV through the mobilization of communities on HIV testing and disclosure and also refer those tested HIV positive for further services such as treatment, by the end of March 2019
